Western Scholarship of Distinction

As part of Western's commitment to recognizing and rewarding outstanding academic achievement among incoming high school students, the Western Scholarship of Distinction is offered automatically to students with a final admission average in the 92.0%–100.0% range (just below the threshold for the top-tier Western Scholarship of Excellence). Eligible students are automatically considered based on their admission application — no separate scholarship application is needed. It is available to both domestic and international students entering directly from secondary school.

Unlimited number of scholarships at $3,500 each ($2,500 in the first year, plus $1,000 for an optional study abroad experience)

The scholarship is applied directly to the student's fee account before the first installment of fees is due

Cannot be combined with another admission scholarship

Students eligible for a Western Scholarship of Distinction are notified via their @uwo.ca email account in mid-to-late September

Must be applying for admission directly from secondary school; generally, students who have attended a post-secondary institution (or attended one and then returned to secondary school) are not eligible

Generally, home-schooled applicants are not eligible for consideration

Must register for full-time studies (minimum 3.5 courses) at Western's main campus; reducing to part-time or withdrawing forfeits the scholarship

Final admission average of 92.0% to 100.0%

Students in receipt of a National Scholarship, Schulich Leader Scholarship, Continue in Canada Admission Scholarship, or Welcome to Canada Admission Scholarship are not eligible

Non-Ontario applicants must submit their full application and supporting documents through OUAC by March 1st for consideration

Western determines averages for applicants not on a Canadian secondary curriculum based on curriculum, grading practices, and grading-scale interpretation

Admission scholarships cannot be deferred
