An automatic, no-application-needed entrance scholarship recognizing strong (though not top-tier) academic achievement among incoming first-year high school applicants to Western's main campus.
About this scholarship
The Western Admission Scholarship is the entry-level tier of Western's three-tier Automatic Admission Scholarship program, awarded to incoming first-year students applying directly from secondary school with a final admission average of 90.0% to 91.9%. There is an unlimited number of these scholarships available (i.e., every qualifying applicant receives one) — it is not a competition among a fixed pool of applicants. Consideration is automatic and based on the admission average calculated by Western's Admissions office; no separate scholarship application is required.
What the award includes
Total value: $2,500 ($1,500 disbursed in first year, plus a $1,000 optional study-abroad component)
Unlimited number of scholarships awarded (all qualifying students receive one)
The $1,000 study-abroad portion requires participating in a Western-approved international learning experience between the summer after first year and the end of April of fourth year; if not used, it's forfeited
Applied directly to the student's fee account (typically toward the second installment of fees, once confirmed); a credit balance is refunded via direct deposit in December
Cannot be combined with the Western Scholarship of Excellence, and students receiving a National Scholarship, Schulich Leader Scholarship, Continue in Canada Admission Scholarship, or Welcome to Canada Admission Scholarship are not eligible for this award
