Principal's Scholarships are awarded, on the basis of academic excellence, to students who are in the top 3% of the competitive admission average for each first-entry undergraduate degree program. Competitive averages vary by program and by year. Recipients typically receive one scholarship — the highest-value award they qualify for — rather than multiple stacked awards.
What the award includes
Annual value: $7,000 CAD
Duration: 1 year only (not renewable for subsequent academic years)
Number available: Varies year to year
Applies toward tuition/fees for the recipient's first year
Who can apply
Open to students entering the first year of any first-entry undergraduate degree program — program of study: All
Must be entering post-secondary education for the first time (though CEGEP students transferring after a 2-year program into second year remain eligible for admission awards)
Criteria: Academic average (see high school grades) — varies by program and from year to year
Award averages are calculated differently depending on background: Ontario students, other Canadian provinces/territories, CEGEP students, U.S. curriculum students (minimum unweighted GPA of 3.7 or 90%), and students from other education systems each have specific calculation methods
Open to both domestic and international applicants (it's a first-entry, program-wide award, not needs-based)
