A one-time $3,000 entrance scholarship for first-phase Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students at the University of Guelph's Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) who have demonstrated leadership in feline welfare.
About this scholarship
Established by the estate of Peter Van der Borch, OVC Class of '88, a devoted feline lover and passionate advocate for animal welfare. The scholarship honors his commitment to animal welfare by supporting students who show similar dedication to the wellbeing of cats specifically.
What the award includes
1 award of $3,000 CAD
Disbursed in the fall semester; the recipient must be registered to receive it
Who can apply
Students registered in Phase 1 of the DVM program at the University of Guelph
Must demonstrate leadership in feline welfare
Must have experience working or volunteering with a non-profit, animal-related agency
Open to both Canadian citizens/permanent residents and non-Canadian/international students
In the event of a tie between candidates, the award goes to the applicant with the highest admissions average
