This is a four-year scholarship awarded to students who have been selected by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Academic Program, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. The purpose of this scholarship is to cover tuition and fees, minus other tuition-based awards the student may receive.

Awarded for four years
Renewable annually, provided eligibility is maintained
Who can apply
Must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. lawful permanent resident (intending to become a U.S. citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law)
Must take the PSAT/NMSQT® in the specified year of the high school program
Must be enrolled full-time in high school and planning to enroll full-time in college immediately upon graduation
Must be named a Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program
Must designate NJIT as first-choice institution with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
To maintain (renew) eligibility: must be enrolled full-time and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0
