International Undergraduate Entrance Scholarships

As part of Guelph's commitment to internationalization, the university offers a package of automatic, merit-based entrance scholarships to help offset the higher cost of international tuition. Students do not need to apply separately — eligibility is assessed automatically from the student's undergraduate admission file, and any scholarship offer is included with the offer of admission. The program consists of three components: the one-time President's International Entrance Scholarship, and the renewable University International Scholarship and Dean's International Scholarship (both paid across all four years of study, subject to renewal criteria).

President's International Entrance Scholarship (one-time award, year 1 only):

95.0%+ average: $7,500

90.0%–94.9%: $6,500

85.0%–89.9%: $5,500

70.0%–84.9%: $2,000

University International Scholarship (renewable):

$5,000 in year 1, $5,000/year in years 2–4 (if renewal criteria met) — total up to $20,000 over 4 years

Dean's International Scholarship (renewable):

$2,500 in year 1, $2,500/year in years 2–4 (if renewal criteria met) — total up to $10,000 over 4 years

All scholarship payments are split into two equal installments, applied toward fall and winter tuition

Combined maximum across the tiers ranges from roughly $32,000 to $37,500 CAD over four years, depending on admission average and which awards a student qualifies for

Must be an international student (non-Canadian citizen/non-permanent resident)

Entering post-secondary studies for the first time

Registering in the first semester (fall) of an undergraduate degree program

Admission average calculated by University of Guelph Admission Services (including evaluation of international grading scales/curricula)

Must register full-time (minimum 2.0 credits) in both fall and winter semesters of year 1

Must pay international student tuition and fees

Renewal criteria (University International & Dean's Scholarships only): must remain registered full-time and achieve a minimum 80.0% average in the previous full-time academic year (typically fall/winter); students who fall below this can requalify in a later year, but missed payments cannot be recovered

Entrance scholarships cannot be deferred — students who defer admission are reconsidered the following year based on that cohort's scholarship availability
