About this scholarship
Every year, UK welcomes new international students to campus with the help of a team of International Ambassadors who represent the university to prospective students worldwide. Ambassadors provide information about the application process, scholarships, student life, and degree programs, and support outreach initiatives such as presentations and social media content creation. In exchange for these responsibilities (roughly one hour per week), selected students receive scholarship funding toward their education.
What the award includes
Award ranges from $3,000 up to $16,000 maximum per year (up to 50% of tuition, according to some sources)
Renewable (subject to maintaining eligibility/GPA requirements)
Additional non-monetary benefits: leadership development, resume-building experience, campus involvement, and community among fellow ambassadors
Who can apply
Must be a new freshman or transfer student who graduated from a high school outside the United States
Minimum GPA of 2.5
Must be subject to non-resident tuition
Must first apply to and be admitted to the University of Kentucky
Ineligible: current UK students, exchange students, and visiting students
