HSS PhD Studentships

QMUL offers fully funded PhD studentships in all areas falling within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. These are 3-year studentships open to applicants of all nationalities, covering both tuition fees and living expenses. Part-time applicants and current first-year PhD students already enrolled at QMUL are also eligible to apply. In addition to the standard award, there are up to two additional awards reserved for UK students who identify as BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic), and there has also been a linked award funded with the Stuart Hall Foundation for UK students from low-income backgrounds in some cycles.

Full tuition fees covered for 3 years

Living expenses (stipend) covered for 3 years

Open to all nationalities

Up to two additional dedicated awards for UK students identifying as BAME

(In some cycles) an additional award funded with the Stuart Hall Foundation for UK students from low-income backgrounds

Open to applicants of all nationalities

Applying for, or already holding an offer for, any PhD programme within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at QMUL

Part-time applicants are eligible

Current first-year PhD students already enrolled full-time at QMUL are also eligible to apply

For the BAME-specific awards: must be a UK student who identifies as BAME (declared in the Statement of Purpose)

Applicants are strongly advised to identify and approach a proposed supervisory team (a primary and secondary supervisor, or two co-supervisors) and discuss their proposal with them before applying
