Edinburgh Surgery Online: Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors Scholarship

Edinburgh Surgery Online (ESO) — a partnership between the University of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh — runs the online MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors, aimed at healthcare workers worldwide who want to build knowledge and practical skills in Human Factors science to improve health systems and patient care, while continuing to work full time. A limited number of full scholarships are offered each year to applicants from eligible regions, alongside smaller bursaries open to a wider pool of applicants.

Fully-funded scholarship: covers full tuition fees plus a contribution toward internet access costs (for eligible applicants from Africa, South Asia, Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands, or Central and South America)

Separate bursaries: worth £1,500 annually, open to all MSc Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors applicants (not limited by region)

Awards are competitive and limited in number

1. Must be a national AND resident of an eligible country/region (Africa, South Asia, Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands, or Central and South America)
2. Must hold at least a conditional offer for the MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors
3. Must submit a letter of support alongside the application

Eligibility Requirements — £1,500 Bursary:

1. Open to all applicants for the MSc in Patient Safety and Clinical Human Factors (no regional restriction)
2. Must have applied for the Masters programme and hold at least a conditional offer
