Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President's Scholarship

This scholarship was created to acknowledge Dr. Franco Vaccarino's remarkable impact on the University of Guelph during his presidency. It is awarded to top international undergraduate applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic records, significant contributions to their schools and communities, innovative approaches to creating change, and strong potential to become future leaders. Two scholarships are awarded each year.

Total value of $42,500 CAD (structured as $8,250 annually for four years of study, plus a one-time $9,500 stipend for a summer research assistantship)

Includes a summer research assistantship position

Mentorship by one of the University's leading professors

Guaranteed first-choice preference residence for the first year of study (contingent on meeting the residence application/deposit deadline)

Renewable annually provided the recipient maintains full-time registration, achieves a minimum 80.0% average in the previous academic year, and continues demonstrating the leadership qualities the award was based on

Recipients must submit an annual report to the President's and Chancellors' Scholarship Selection and Review Committee (PCSSRC) detailing leadership and engagement activities

Must have submitted an application for admission and have a valid U of G student ID number

Must be an International (VISA) student — Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and convention refugees of Canada are NOT eligible (such students should instead apply for the President's Scholarship or Lincoln Alexander Chancellor's Scholarship)

Must be entering the first semester of any undergraduate degree program at the University of Guelph

Must not have previously attended a post-secondary institution

Must have at least an admission average equivalent to 90.0% on the Canadian curriculum

Must demonstrate significant leadership contributions to school and community
