Converting to Law Scholarship

The Converting to Law Scholarship is part of BPP University Law School's £1.4m+ postgraduate law scholarship fund, aimed at widening access to the legal profession. It's specifically aimed at non-law graduates who are making the switch into law, supporting their transition onto one of BPP's law conversion pathways. As with BPP's other scholarships, applicants compete on the strength of their application, and the strongest candidates applying for the higher-value (full fee and half fee) awards are asked to complete an additional project as part of the selection process.

Fee waiver/discount toward tuition fees on an eligible Law Conversion course

Award values include: £3,000, half of course fees, or full fees (exact award depends on the strength of the application and available funding)

Must be a non-law graduate converting to a legal career, intending to become a solicitor or barrister

Eligible courses: Law Conversion Course (PGDL), Law Conversion Course (Master's), LLM Law Conversion with SQE1

Must be a new student enrolling on the course (not applicable to students already studying)

Must not hold full fee sponsorship from elsewhere (e.g., an employer or one of the Inns of Court)

Cannot hold more than one BPP scholarship simultaneously — if awarded more than one, only the higher-value award applies

Recipients of master's funding (e.g., UK Student Finance England postgraduate loans) remain eligible to apply

Selection considers dedication to career progression (extracurricular activities, work experience in law or other fields) and leadership, entrepreneurial, innovation, or other transferable skills — particularly relevant for career changers
