Scholarship preview

The cornerstone scholarship program of the University of Cincinnati, offering more than $22 million in renewable, tiered scholarships to the brightest and most promising incoming first-year students across all academic disciplines.

About this scholarship

Cincinnatus is UC's flagship scholarship program for incoming first-year students, named after the Roman general Cincinnatus — regarded as a model of selfless, heroic service — reflecting the university's emphasis on community service. The program awards multiple scholarship tiers based on academic merit, and all recipients are expected to fulfill an annual community service requirement to maintain their award.

What the award includes

Presidential tier: 20 scholarships of $120,000 total (approx. $30,000/year), covering full tuition, fees, room, board, and a book allowance

Century and University tiers: Numerous scholarships ranging from $6,000 to $24,000 total ($1,500 to $6,000 per year)

An additional annual $3,000 Cincinnatus Out-of-State Scholarship is added for students not otherwise eligible for the Indiana/Kentucky Metro Rate, Reciprocity, or the National Outreach Scholarship award

All Cincinnatus scholarships are renewable for the full length of the undergraduate program, provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA and completes an annual 30-hour community service requirement
