Chevening Scholarships (at Cranfield University)

Chevening is the UK Government's global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. It makes awards to outstanding scholars with leadership potential from around the world to study postgraduate courses — typically one-year Master's degrees — at UK universities, including Cranfield. Chevening Scholars are identified as potential future leaders across politics, business, media, civil society, religion, and academia, and are expected to be high-calibre graduates with the personal, intellectual, and interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership. Cranfield, a specialist postgraduate university located about an hour north of London, offers Chevening scholars the chance to study any Chevening-eligible course there — with particular strength in aerospace, automotive engineering, data science, business, and environmental sustainability, backed by close industry ties and dedicated career services.

Payment of tuition fees (capped at £22,000 for MBA programmes — any costs above that cap must be covered by the applicant)

Economy return travel to and from the country of residence, by an approved route, for the scholar only

An arrival allowance

Cost of an entry clearance (visa) application, for the scholar only

A departure allowance

A contribution of up to £75 toward TB testing, where required

A travel top-up allowance

A monthly personal living allowance (stipend) for accommodation and living expenses — the rate varies depending on whether studying inside or outside London, and is reviewed annually

Note: in Taiwan and Singapore, the scholarship comprises only tuition fees and one visa application

Must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country

Must commit to returning to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after the award ends

Must hold an undergraduate degree sufficient for entry to a UK postgraduate programme — typically equivalent to a UK upper second-class (2:1) honours degree

Must have at least two years' work experience (may be up to five years for fellowship programmes — check your country page)

Must apply to three different eligible UK university courses and hold an unconditional offer from one of them by July following the application submission

Must meet the Chevening English language requirement by July following the application submission
