Chevening Scholarship (at the University of Portsmouth)

Chevening is the UK Government's international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders. Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, it offers future leaders and influencers from around the world the opportunity to develop professionally and academically, build an extensive network, experience UK culture, and form lasting positive relationships with the UK. These highly coveted scholarships are awarded to outstanding scholars with leadership potential, typically for a one-year Master's degree in any subject. The University of Portsmouth has welcomed Chevening scholars over the years and encourages eligible applicants to apply for any Chevening-eligible Master's course there.

Full tuition fees covered

A monthly personal living allowance (stipend) to cover accommodation and living expenses — the rate depends on whether studying inside or outside London and is reviewed annually

Covers a one-year Master's degree in any subject

Access to the wider Chevening alumni network and professional development opportunities

Must hold an undergraduate degree

Must have at least two years' work experience (including voluntary experience)

Must demonstrate leadership skills — excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and determination to achieve goals

Must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory

Must commit to returning to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after the award ends

(General Chevening requirement, as with other partner pages) must apply to and receive an unconditional offer from an eligible UK university course, and meet Chevening's English language requirement, by the relevant deadline
