AnBryce is a select, comprehensive, four-year academic program for first-generation scholar-leaders — students who are the first in their families to attend college — that assists them in navigating their university experience and scaffolds the development of community-minded, global citizens.
About this scholarship
Founded in 2013, the AnBryce Scholars Initiative is a cohort-model program that provides intensive, individual advising and mentoring to support students' academic trajectories throughout their four years at Notre Dame. The program has grown to support over 100 scholars and alumni across all colleges and disciplines, welcoming a new cohort of 8–10 students each year. Scholars come from all Colleges of study and participate fully in clubs, scholastic programs, and study abroad opportunities (over two-thirds of AnBryce scholars study abroad). The program has produced Fulbright Fellows, Fulbright Summer Institute Fellows, Gilman Scholars, a Boren Scholar, and a Truman Scholar, with a 100% post-grad employment/graduate education placement rate among alumni.
What the award includes
Funding to cover the full published cost of attendance, including tuition and fees, room and board, and estimated costs of books, transportation, and personal expenses (administered as part of the student's standard Notre Dame financial aid package, which is set and maintained by the Office of Financial Aid — AnBryce does not separately alter that package)
Four-year, cohort-based leadership development and enrichment programming, including immersion experiences (Global Immersion and Network Immersion trips), a Leadership Summit, and a Personal and Professional Development Series
Intensive, individualized financial, career, and academic mentoring
1–2 meetings each semester with a Faculty Director to plan and assess academic trajectories
Regular meetings with an Associate Director (financial, health, and life needs) and an Education and Outreach Specialist (professional mentorship and summer plans)
Monthly cohort dinners and community-building events
Dedicated AnBryce Orientation to help first-generation students and their families acclimate to campus, separate from but complementary to standard First Year Orientation
Access to sessions with partners across the University (Study Abroad, Institute for Social Concerns, Career Development, Institute for Global Investing, and various Scholarship/Research funding units)
Strong track record of scholars going on to prestigious national fellowships (Fulbright, Gilman, Boren, Truman) and other honors
